When you sign up with EasyOutsource for the first time, you are asked to complete your profile.  We ask you to do this as completing this step will truly help you get a job quicker.  Filling up your profile makes it more attractive to buyers.  It makes you appear more serious about getting an online job.

Have you ever applied for a traditional job?  If not, try sending an application without a comprehensive resume and your chances of getting an interview will be next to none.  Your profile is your online comprehensive resume.  Without it, employers are more likely to skip over your application.

Let me help you make your profile more attractive by describing each item in more detail.

Worker Details

  • Title – The title is your tag line or catch phrase.  You should aim to make it a sneak peak of your profile in as few words as possible.  Catch the attention of employers.  Have you ever declined to watch a movie because its title sucked only to find out months later that it won an Oscar?  Don’t let employers pass over your profile because your title is bad.
  • Hourly Rate – Choose a rate that is commensurate to your skills.  Research the going rates of other freelancers for the same area of practice.  $30/hr for data entry?  Be realistic and do your research.
  • Categories – Choose a category or categories which you would like to work under.  Of course, choose a category which you actually know how to do.  Do not choose programming if the only java you know is the one at Starbucks (and no, Indonesia doesn’t count either).
  • English Level - When choosing an English level, assess both your English oral and written skills.
Beginner is for those who have limited English skills.  Think:  “I told you not to go to, you go to. Now look at.” (Translated from: “Sinabi ko huwag kang pumunta, pumunta ka. Ngayon tingnan mo anong nangyari.”)
    Intermediate
is for those who can effectively communicate in English, but are not necessarily experts of the language.  If you have average English skills, choose this level.
    Advanced
is for those who can think in English.  THINK, not just translate.  If you grew up speaking the language, you may fall under this level.  If you are very upset at someone and can still reprimand them in straight English, you definitely fall under this level.
  • Educational Level – Choose the level that you have completed or where you’re currently at.  Post Graduate means you took a Masters or Doctorate degree or are currently enrolled in one.
  • University Attended – This is for those who went to College.  This is the name of the College or University you attended.  If you haven’t been to college, leave it blank.
  • Area of Study - This is the course you took up in College.  If you have multiple areas of study because you continually shifted courses, choose the degree you graduated with.  If you have multiple areas of study because you took and graduated from more than one course, e.g. you graduated with a degree in Engineering and went on and got a degree in Nursing, list both courses.  This is not the province or city where you studied.

On part 2 of this post, I will discuss the final steps to completing your profile. Stay tuned!
