What kind of work should you outsource?

July 5 at 7:59 pm in Employer Tips, How It Works by Honey Amabelle D. Young (Admin) 4 Comments »

The process of outsourcing has become very popular over the past few years.  A lot of people find that they have too much work going on at the same time and would like to free up their time to do more substantial things.  Some even outsource their entire work process and find that they are still earning while they are on vacation, playing golf, or doing things other than working.  Some even find that they started to earn more when they started to outsource as opposed to when they were doing all the work themselves.  Wouldn’t you want to do the same?

However, for some, they don’t know where to start.  You may have heard of outsourcing, are very interested in outsourcing, could potentially benefit from outsourcing, but don’t exactly know what to outsource.

If you find yourself wondering what to outsource, read on to find a list of things that you can easily delegate to an online freelancer.

The case of the disappearing freelancer

June 16 at 8:40 pm in Employer Tips, Tips & Tutorials by Honey Amabelle D. Young (Admin) 5 Comments »

Have you hired a Filipino contractor, assigned them a task, wait a few days for them to complete the task, wait a few more days, email them asking how they’re doing, with no response from them, and never hear from them again?

This scenario is very familiar and most definitely annoying, if you are subject to such behavior from a hired worker.  I am a Filipino online worker myself and am highly against this disappearing act from my fellow freelancers.  But oddly enough, this is commonplace and happens to even the best of them, so don’t take it personally.

Let’s discuss this eccentric behavior and try to solve the mystery of the disappearing freelancer.  First, let’s discuss common Filipino traits that are mostly the reason behind such disappearances:

  • Most Filipinos are, by nature, non-confrontational. If faced with a situation where they are required to speak their minds out, they’d rather suck it up, keep their mouth shut, and just walk out on you and deal with their frustration on

Are rates suggested by outsourcing “gurus” really enough?

June 4 at 11:55 am in Employer Tips, Internet Marketing by Honey Amabelle D. Young (Admin) 5 Comments »

You may have noticed that there has been a recent proliferation of outsourcing courses in the internet.  We have John Jonas, Tyron Shum, and John Reese, to name a few.  All of them are considered internet marketing “gurus” and they have now grown to include outsourcing as one of their expertise.

I have nothing against outsourcing courses.  In fact, I encourage anyone new to the concept of outsourcing to take any one of the courses by the people mentioned above.  It will open up your eyes and encourage you to try your hand at delegating some of your work to people overseas.

My only gripe is that most, if not all, of the outsourcing courses slightly downplay the rates that are proper for online contractors in the Philippines.  I don’t know the living conditions, minimum wage, and cost of living in countries like India, Indonesia, etc. so I will decline to comment about wages in those countries and just stick to the Philippines.

Most of the outsourcing courses recommend paying [...] Continue reading

A List of Things You Can Outsource

April 6 at 4:29 pm in Employer Tips by Matt O'Brien (Admin) 2 Comments »

When you start outsourcing regularly to extend the capabilities of your business, you’ll be amazed at the variety of tasks that can be delegated to an assistant or contractor. This will rescue your time and allow your business to accomplish more. What’s been really crucial to my businesses is that with the help of outsourcing, I’m no longer limited by the amount of time and energy I personally have. Outsourcing has opened up a lot of new possibilities and allowed me to move my business in the direction I want to go.

I want to talk about the kinds of things that people are successfully outsourcing. I hope this will encourage you to think about your own business and the tasks you commonly perform. Ask yourself: could I train someone to do this? Your answer might be something like: “Yeah maybe I could delegate this, but I could do it better myself, and it wouldn’t cost me anything.” That may be true, but don’t lose sight of the big picture.
